Grant Consulting Retainer Services

Typical Client: A great fit if you are just getting started submitting grants, need to take a closer look at your grants or funding strategy overall, or need someone to do all the heavy lifting without hiring a full-time employee. A retainer option can also be a great fit if you are looking to add a grant application as part of a capital campaign. A strong fit for new Development Directors or Executive Directors struggling to maximize funding with limited hours in the day, and for the organizations that want to ensure a steady flow of applications and maximize their funding potential - an excellent fit for organizations with an annual budget of $500,000 or more.

What’s Included:

The services I offer include comprehensive grant research, which begins with an initial funding strategy. This comprehensive document reviews pre-verified leads and identifies potential funders aligned with your mission and goals. I will develop custom grant proposals, crafting tailored narratives that resonate with funders to ensure your organization stands out in a competitive landscape.

Additionally, I will provide monthly grant reports that summarize grant applications submitted, funding opportunities explored, and outcomes for finance and board meetings. My application management services will include submitting three to five medium to large grant applications on average per month, with the flexibility to adjust based on your needs and emerging opportunities. For example, if we identify several smaller private funding requests, we might submit more LOI's or applications during a single month.

Ongoing strategy meetings will be held regularly with your Executive Director/Development Director to assess funding strategies, operational and program needs, and upcoming grant opportunities. I will also assist with updating internal policies and procedures to ensure alignment with grant requirements, thereby ensuring compliance and readiness for large grants.

Importantly, all written materials, project budgets, and proposals created during the retainer period will be owned by your organization for future use. I assure confidentiality for all materials submitted to me, with the option to sign an additional confidentiality agreement if you prefer.

Excludes: Federal government grant applications, unless agreed upon in writing to replace other grant applications.

Pricing Structure, Commitment, and Flexibility

Our Grant Retainer Services provide tailored, flexible, and comprehensive support specifically designed to meet your organization's unique needs.

Minimum Commitment: A six-month retainer is recommended to allow for effective strategy implementation and evaluation of our partnership. Lock in your rate if you choose a one-year term, which gives us the best chance at traction. Eligible for a guarantee.

Termination Clause: Either party can terminate the agreement with one month's notice (30 days) after the initial commitment period, ensuring flexibility as your needs evolve.

Monthly Retainer Fee: The base rate is $2,500, and can vary depending on organizational needs and identified grants.

Larger state-supported organizations and larger non-profit institutions have a higher base rate. Contact us for consultation.

This fee covers all services outlined above and is billed monthly. Includes a monthly grant report for your Board of Directors, tracking, and grant evaluation/reporting if still under contract.

A $1,500 deposit is required to secure your spot and initiate the research process for your funding leads. Currently, at Curtis-Carr Consulting, we only onboard one new retainer client per quarter.

By choosing our Grant Retainer Services, you are investing in a partnership that prioritizes your organization's funding success and long-term sustainability. We want to help you navigate the grant landscape and secure the resources necessary to drive your mission. Retainer clients are eligible for a guarantee, which means our team will guarantee we will raise at least the amount of the fee, or we will continue to apply for new funding until we have done so.

Development Plan Consulting

Typical Client:  Ideal organizations looking to establish a comprehensive development plan to enhance their fundraising efforts, improve donor engagement, and ensure short-term sustainability, with some beginning discussion points on long-term sustainability ideas and needs. This service is ideal for new Development Directors, Executive Directors, or organizations looking to review and revamp their existing fundraising strategies.

Our Development Plan Consulting service is designed to empower your organization with a strategic framework that aligns with your mission with actionable fundraising goals. This tailored approach will help you identify opportunities, engage stakeholders, and create a roadmap for sustainable growth. â€‹â€‹

What's Included:

The initial assessment will involve a thorough evaluation of your current fundraising strategies, ratios, donor engagement practices, and organizational capacity. This process will include identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT analysis) to inform the development plan. Following this, we will collaboratively establish SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals that align with your organization's mission and vision, define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress and success.

Next, we will develop a comprehensive plan that outlines strategic for diversifying funding sources, strengthening donor relationships, and enhancing community engagement. This plan will also include a timeline for implementation, featuring milestones and checkpoints to assess progress. Tailored donor engagement strategies will be be developed, focusing on cultivating and retaining donors through personalized communication plans and recognition programs. Also, we'll be able to provide recommendations for leveraging technology and social media to enhance outreach and engagement.

To ensure the successful implementation of the development plan, we will offer up to two training sessions for staff and board members on effective fundraising practices, donor stewardship, and relationship management. This training will equip your team with the necessary tools and techniques to succeed. Access to funding resources and templates will also be available to support the implementation of the development plan. Financial documents from within the organization are required to perform this work.

Pricing Structure and Commitment

Pricing Structure: Development Plans for Non-Profit (501(c)(3)) organizations are available at a flat fee of $5,000. For other non-profit institutions (e.g., IHE, school districts, large entity foundations), please get in touch with us for pricing. Half of the fee is due upon execution of the contract, and the other half is due upon completion or three months from the date of the agreement, whichever comes first.

Minimum Commitment: The process can take up to three months; it is recommended to allow sufficient time for effective strategy development and initial implementation. A Development Plan is not a Strategic Plan; rather, it is an in-depth development plan that assesses history, the current landscape, organizational culture, and conducts a comprehensive needs assessment. It will serve as the blueprint for development over the following years. It requires one-on-one meetings, staff, and pre-identified board engagement to execute successfully.

By choosing our Development Plan Consulting service, you are investing in a strategic partnership that prioritizes your organization's growth and sustainability. Let us help you create a robust development plan that drives your mission forward and secures the resources necessary for success.

Social Media Marketing and Development Package

Are you a mid-size non-profit with limited staff and resources, wondering how to amplify your voice and turn that into dollars to fuel your mission? Consider partnering with us for your grant, development, planning, and social media marketing (with website audit). This package is tailored to fir your needs.

Typical Client: The ideal client for this comprehensive social media marketing and development package is a mission-driven nonprofit organization with a clear and impactful focus on community service, social change, or advocacy. This organization is growth-oriented and recognizes the importance of expanding its reach and engagement through digital channels, understanding that a strong online presence is essential in today's digital landscape. Often, marketing and development efforts fall solely on the Executive Director, who may be overwhelmed and struggle to achieve significant results despite their dedication and hard work, due to the ever-evolving nature of the landscape. This client often operates with limited marketing resources and seeks to maximize their investment in social media to achieve meaningful outcomes without the need for a full-time marketing team. The typical client for this service often says, "no one knows what we do."

What’s Included:

The Social Media Marketing and Development Package will include the deliverables outlined in the Development Plan Package and Grant Retainer, which will consist of developing a comprehensive social media strategy. This will begin with a thorough analysis of your current social media present and performance, followed by the definition of clear, measurable goals tailored to your organization's mission and audience. Identifying target demographics and selecting the most suitable platforms for engagement will also be essential components of this strategy.

In terms of content creation and curation, we will develop a content calendar to plan and schedule posts in advance, ensuring consistency across all platforms. Engaging and shareable content will be created, including high-quality visuals and graphics, compelling storytelling through posts and captions, as well as short-form videos. It will align with your development plant. Also, we'll be able to curate relevant content from trusted sources to supplement your messaging.

Community engagement will be a priority, as we actively monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions to foster relationships with your audience. We will facilitate discussions and encourage audience participation through polls, questions, and interactive content, ultimately building and nurturing online communities around your cause.

For fundraising and campaign promotion, we will design and implement targeted social media campaigns to promote fundraising initiatives and events. (Ads, if used, are an additional cost and are decided upon in advance.) Utilizing built-in fundraising tools on platforms like Facebook and Instagram will streamline donations, while creating compelling calls to action will encourage volunteer recruitment and participation in events.

A cost-effective paid advertising strategy will also be developed, focusing on platforms like Facebook and Instagram. We will target specific demographics to reach new audiences and boost fundraising efforts, utilizing ads (if applicable) as an additional expense and making decisions in advance. We will monitor ad performance and adjust strategies to optimize results.

To ensure the effectiveness of these efforts, we will regularly monitor key metrics, including engagement, reach, and conversion rates. Monthly reports will be provided, detailing performance insights and recommendations for improvement. Strategies will be adjusted based on data analysis to ensure continuous growth and impact.

Finally, we will offer training sessions for your team on best practices for social media management, providing ongoing support and consultation to address any questions or challenges that may arise. Together, we will work towards achieving your organization's goals and amplifying your mission in the digital landscape.

"Working with Christine has truly ELAVATED our fundraising!

...One of the most impactful grants Christine has helped our organization secure was the new furniture for our original homes."

She dives in and gets to know the heart and purpose behind your organization and utilizes that understanding to emphasize the magnitude of your requests. Conveying intention and the heart of the organization can get lost in all the formalities and numbers.  Christine’s intricate and intimate knowledge of both the grant writing processes and her clients allow her to effectively communicate that information to funders.

One of the most impactful grants Christine has helped our organization secure was the new furniture for our original homes.  We are a nonprofit that provides group home services for adults with intellectual disabilities.  Our original campus homes were built over 20 years ago and still had the original furniture.  Long overdue to be replaced, we sought Christine’s help.  The pure joy and excitement it brought our folks to see the cozy upgrades Christine’s services produced was absolutely priceless.  Christine provides an invaluable service and we cannot recommend her highly enough.

"She continually thinks outside the box, going above and beyond what one might expect."

I have had the great honor of working with Christine on a

number of projects. Christine and I met when she was the Executive Director of a board on which I served (later serving as president ) I additionally worked with her on another project recently. I had such success, we teamed up again for the second time since serving together on the first board. Her dedication, her professionalism and her organization are unlike that of anyone I know.

I have witnessed her navigate difficult situations with ease.

She continually thinks outside the box, going above and beyond what one might expect. I consider her a mentor and friend. Any organization should consider themselves lucky to have her in their corner. I can confidently say she is the gold standard in her field.
